Prayer Guide for February Trips
/2025 February Prayer Guide for Pastor Training Trip
Dear Friends of Guyana,
Please pray for this upcoming trip. Carl Martin is going for another pastor training trip. We are so grateful for his commitment to go every six months to train pastors in the remote villages of Guyana. Besides being a wonderful teacher, he is so relational with them that they feel they can open up about any issues they are facing. Here are the dates that you can pray specifically for him and our team. He will be joined by Jai and Michael on this trip to Region 1 near Venezuela in the river village of Canal Bank. Alex and Markie will be doing a trip to Region 9 near Brazil in the savanna area this same week. Please pray for them as well.
FRIDAY, February 14—our four staff will go to the Mazaruni Prisons for services which will include evangelism and discipleship. These prisons are on an island in the Essequibo River. Please pray for God to touch the hearts of these men and that they will each come closer to Him, either for salvation or for maturity.
SATURDAY, February 15—Our team will go back to Georgetown and await Carl’s arrival. Please pray for his travel day as he has several layovers, Savannah to DCA to Miami to Georgetown. We all know how difficult air travel can be these days. Pray for flights to be on time and for opportunities to engage people he sits beside if God opens the door. He will arrive in Guyana at 11:55 PM. Pray for an easy time getting through customs. The hotel is about an hour’s drive from the airport so he will be very late getting to bed.
SUNDAY—February 16— Pray for energy as Carl and Jai and Michael have a 6:30 AM flight out of the small Ogle airport in Georgetown to fly to the jungle landing in Port Kaietuma. They will take a 20 minute boat ride on the Kaietuma River and go to the village of Canal Bank. Pray Carl will get some much needed rest as they settle in and prepare for the pastors to arrive on Monday morning. They will set up in the open air church where they will sleep on blow up mattresses or hammocks. They will set up their kitchen there where Jai will cook for them during their stay.
MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY—February 17, 18, 19 —Eighteen pastors will arrive for the training and may bring other workers from their churches also. Thirteen of them have come to several of Carl’s training sessions and we are excited to have FIVE new pastors joining this time. Carl will be using Philippians as his launching pad to teach and encourage these pastors. Each day, there will be several sessions as well as time in between for conversation times to talk about how to apply what they are learning. Every time Carl has gone and tells the pastors it is time to end a session, they say they don’t want to stop. Carl is a gifted teacher who knows how to make the Word applicable. The churches these pastors go back to will be blessed to have a pastor who has sat under Carl’s teaching.
THURSDAY, February 20—Carl, Jai and Michael will travel back out of the river and fly back to Ogle in Georgetown. They will have some down time to rest and enjoy each being together. I am sure a card game will break out at some point!!!!!
FRIDAY, February 21—Carl has a 6:35 AM flight. The airport is an hour from the hotel so it will be a very early wake up call. Pray for a good travel day. Traveling back Carl only has one layover, Georgetown to Miami to Savannah.
Thank you for praying for God to supply these pastors with renewed zeal as they serve their congregations.
